ALC1 / Dolphins
We provide specialist education and support for children who have speech, language and communication needs. We believe that each child should have opportunities to fulfil their potential through a balanced curriculum with the following priorities:
- The acquisition and development of speech and language skills;
- The development of literacy and numeracy skills;
- The development of emotional and social skills and attitudes which promote self –discipline and self-esteem.
Dolphins is managed by Miss Sandford and Miss Mansfield along with a dedicated team of staff, Mrs Morgan, Miss Flint, Mrs Goodman and Miss Livermore. All the children have regular access to Mrs Viv Newman and Mrs Alex Jones – our speech and language therapists. They provide each child with an individual speech and language programme which is developed alongside the experienced practitioners within our resource base.
Our teaching on a daily basis integrates all areas of the curriculum and is carried out at a language level which is appropriate for each individual child. We have fun in all our learning and combine practical sessions along with the more formal writing activities. We promote integration into the mainstream classroom setting wherever appropriate to help the children form relationships with children of their own age. Our ‘social outings’ nurture social skills when out in the community, we aim to go out on a weekly basis.
Every child in our care is unique with their own individual way of learning. The whole team in Dolphins are very proud of the achievements of each child and through the fun, interactive classroom experiences and the continued support from all our parents / carers we aim to continue delivering an excellent primary education.
