Letter to parents 17-09-2020 – Covid information

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Please find enclosed details on how we can work together to keep everyone in the school community safe.

We’ve broken the information down into the different scenarios that may occur:

PUPIL SYMPTOMS AT HOME

If your child displays any of the Covid symptoms whilst at home i.e.

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Please seek medical advice

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you have any of these symptoms. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus and stay at home until you get your result.

It’s really important that you contact us if your child or anyone in your household is showing these symptoms.

It’s important you let the school know if you have organised a Covid test for your child or any other member of your household.

It’s really important that you let us know the results of any tests immediately.

 PUPIL SYMPTOMS IN SCHOOL

If your child displays symptoms whilst at school we will contact you and ask you to come to collect your child.  When you arrive at school please wait in the car and your child will be brought out to you.

You will be given a letter which explains the next steps that you need to take.  This involves making sure that your child is tested.  Your household will also need to self-isolate until the test results come back.  If you have any other children at Llwyn yr Eos, they will also need to leave school at the same time.  If you have any children at other schools, you will also need to collect them from their school.

We will need to see the results of the test e.g. in a screenshot.

  1. If the test result is negative, we will need to see the results of the test before your child can return to school.
  2. If it is positive, then your child will need to self-isolate for 10 days and everyone else in the household for 14 days.

Should you choose not to test your child, you and all other household members will need to self-isolate for 14 days.

OTHER HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS WITH SYMPTOMS

If you have children in other schools or other members of the household who are showing symptoms, you will need to come and collect your child.  Please phone Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos 01970 617011 - 07401222409 in advance, letting us know the reason, and we will get your child/children ready for you to collect.  Again, please wait in the carpark and your child will be bought out to you.

A POSITIVE TEST RESULT AT LLWYN YR EOS

Should there be a positive test in the school, we will work with the Track, Trace and Protect (TTP) Team as well as officers from Ceredigion County Council to decide who will need to self-isolate.  We will confirm this quickly as possible with parents/guardians.

A POSITIVE TEST RESULT AT ANOTHER SCHOOL

If you have a child who is self-isolating because there has been a positive test in another school, any children based at Llwyn yr Eos do not have to isolate, unless told otherwise by TTP.

Following these steps will allow us to work together to address any scenario that arises safely and effectively for the benefit of every member of the school community.
