West End of Wales Music Project

I am writing to let you know of an exciting project the music service is undertaking with The WEoW (The West End of Wales), this coming half term. In these unprecedented times we are obviously unable to run our annual residential courses in Llangrannog.

The WEoW is an organisation set up by past-Three Counties musicians from Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. All members of WEoW are high calibre, professional musicians, playing in the West End or other professional orchestras and ensembles. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they are not able to work at this time.

The idea for this project was the brain child of Laura Llywelyn –Jones, French horn player, Phantom of the Opera and Iestyn Griffiths, freelance musical director.

We intend to run two ensembles this half term – a string orchestra and a wind band.

The project is open to all age groups, with no limit on numbers. It will be by invitation from music service staff, to children of Grade 3 and above. The project will be run via the Teams platform, please see the timetable below.

The project is being funded by the Friends of Ceredigion Young Musicians and therefore is free to access.

We are very pleased to be working alongside these musicians and very much look forward to being able to present our virtual concert on Tuesday 22nd December 7.30pm.
