Blwyddyn 4 is an exciting year group. At the beginning of the academic year, we begin with the theme ‘Dyma Cymru – This is Wales’. We look at our ‘Cynefin/Habitat’ and discuss the history of Aberystwyth.
One of the most interesting learning experiences in Year 4 is when we plan for our Entrepreneurship theme in the lead up to Christmas. We plan an ‘Apprentice’ style theme where we create products from scratch to make on mass and sell in our Christmas Fayre. This is always fun for the children and all profit made goes towards a fun trip or items for the classroom. The children always decide where they would like to go or what they would like to buy. They take great pride in this!
Our Physical Education sessions are on a Thursday. Please ensure that your child comes dressed appropriately for these sessions. At numerous points of the academic year, we also get to go down to Plascrug Leisure Centre to access a block of swimming lessons. The children always enjoy this experience. You will be informed when it is our block for swimming lessons. Blwyddyn 4 also enjoy BMO coaching sessions as part of our curriculum. A timetable is released as part of the Headteacher newsletter. We always ensure the are a great deal of opportunities for Physical Education and Sport as part of our curriculum.
The children in Year 4 enjoy producing and presenting their work in the form of ICT. We have a range of ICT equipment and the children enjoy their morning routine of TT Rockstars, Spelling Shed, Darllen Co and DUO LINGO. You can access your child’s log in details by asking your child’s class teacher
We have a class TEAMS page where homework can be sent in, work can be shared or even where children can send in news/photos from what they have been up to over the weekend.
One of the highlights of the year is our trip to Gwersyll yr Urdd Llangrannog! Blwyddyn 4 and 3 can enjoy the residential stay during term time! This is always a wonderful trip where we see the children develop their independence and team building skills.
We share a great deal of our learning experiences on the school Twitter/X page - @llwynyreos . It would be great if you could follow our page and keep up to date with what we are getting up to.
