There are 27 hardworking pupils in the Eos 4 year 6 mainstream class. Mrs Jane Thorogood is the teacher, supported by Mrs Evans and Miss Grey (Mon, Tues, Weds) and Miss Michelle and Miss Hilary (Thurs, Fri).
Literacy and Numeracy takes place every morning, apart from Wednesdays. The skills the pupils learn here are often transferred into the foundation subjects, which are taught in the afternoons. All foundation subjects are taught through themes. Examples of the themes we are studying are World war II, Special Journeys and Climate Change.
Swimming takes place every Wednesday morning after half term until Christmas, and P.E is on a Friday afternoon.
In year 6 the pupils enjoy the opportunity to take part in the JAC scheme. This allows pupils to experience first aid, cooking and carpentry lessons, lasting a term each. This is run by Mrs. Northover on a Wednesday afternoon.
Our main aim for year 6 is to prepare pupils for secondary school. Therefore we work increasingly on developing independent learning and responsibility, both in the classroom and around the school.
Although we work hard in year 6, we always find time for fun! Enjoying lots of games to support learning and visits, such as to the Science Fair and to Multi-Skills Sports Festivals. Every year we look forward to our annual Leavers’ Assembly where we celebrate the wonderful time pupils have had at Ysgol Llwyn-yr-Eos.
