Year 6 Ystwyth and Rheidol

This year, the pupils in Year 6 are split into two classes, Ystwyth and Rheidol. Mrs Catrin Medi Pugh-Jones is the teacher in Rheidol, and Mrs Jane Thorogood is the teacher in Ystwyth.

Literacy and Numeracy takes place every morning, apart from Wednesdays. The skills the pupils learn here are often transferred into the foundation subjects, which are taught in the afternoons. All foundation subjects are taught through themes. Examples of the themes we are studying are World war II, Special Journeys and Climate Change.

P.E is on a Monday afternoon, we try and go outside for PE as much as we can.

Our main aim for year 6 is to prepare pupils for secondary school. Therefore we work increasingly on developing independent learning and responsibility, both in the classroom and around the school.
